Phil Surbey's comments:

Wow Paul what a stunning location! I wish i could have been with you when you took this really atmospheric landscape. I like the use of reverting the image to monochrome, sometimes this doesn't always work. I personally think that a small amount of darkening to the large stone and snow in the left foreground and then cropping the image to a 16 x 9 format would of further improved your shot.

palboy's comments:

The shot was taken from near the summit of loughrigg fell in cumbria (lake district). I also have a couple of full colour variants, but I like the feel the tinted monochrome and its less distracting in some ways. I did consider a different crop, but in the end I think I quite like this version. I have found it difficult to select one photo only to represent winter, as there are some many ways to portray !

Dramatic image, Paul, underlined by the tinted monochrome. This seems to enhance an underlying beauty not always seen in full colour. Sharp foreground gives a sense of 3D.
