The apprentice ..
For Sheila Davies. Alpine Ibex practising their sparring technique. I think the one on the left watching is the "apprentice" - or maybe he is just weighing-up the opposition? I rested my G1 on a bean-bag and used the 100-300 mm zoom lens. 1/1000 F5.6 ISO800 @ 286mm

Walking the Tour du Mont Blanc in early June – I found the wild Alpine Ibex surprisingly easy to photograph. Anywhere over about 2,000 metres (about 6,5000 feet) you were likely to encounter them. They were so tame on some of the paths you could almost reach-out and stroke them! So I tried to get some shots of their natural behaviour as well as just portrait photos. I put a few into an album here https://picasaweb.google.com/gordonsimm1/AlpineIbex#

Thanks Gordon. I enjoyed them all in your Picasa gallery too!

Excellent shot Gordon – the strong diagonal composition adds lots of power to the image.
