Water-drop shots are fun as well as being extremely difficult to get right .. Manual Exposure Mode/ forced pop-up flash 1/160 F16 ISO100 using the 45-200mm lens at 56mm plus Raynox DCR-250

Wow, Gordon, just look at those rippling colours. This shot is as good as it gets, in my opinion.

Thanks Ray, Just took half-an-hour with a red kitchen bowl, a tin of Uncle Joe’s and two lumix batteries! Yes I took dozens of shots to get these two ‘keepers’ .. Gordon

Fantastic shots Gordon. I built a sound operated flash trigger back in 79 to take similar shots of a ball being dropped into liquid or breaking glass. The camera was set “B” setting in the dark and the ball dropped into the liquid. The sound fired the flashgun to expose the shot. I was good at electronics in those days but not very good in photography (still trying)
Must see if i still got it and try it on digital camera.

That’s a great shot Gordon, I particularly like the refection of Uncle Jo (whatever that is ?) in the droplet.

After having just purchased the Panasonic Lumix G2, this is the kind of shot that I hope to be able to achieve after reading and understanding the manual and the many photography terms/uses/effects; aperture, exposure, and so on :) Really great shot!

Massively inspired by these pictures! I have just got a G2 – my first proper camera. I was determined to get something along the lines of this shot and I hope you don’t mind that I have put a couple of my very much inferior attempts onto my gallery. If you are offended, just let me know and I’ll take them down straight away. P.S. I presume you put the Uncle Joe’s upside down, because I didn’t and the reflection is inverted!??
