The Dome Cinema

When I noticed this telescope on the pier, and the attractive building on the seafront, I had an idea for an unusual photograph. It seemed to warrant an HDR treatment, and so, using the auto bracketing mode on my G1, I took several sets of seven exposures, to make sure that I had what I wanted. The post processing in photomatix and CS3 gave me the look that I was after, especially the peeling paint on the old coin box. Despite this, I wasn’t sure if I should show it in the gallery, as I couldn’t decide if the idea behind it was a good one or not. Eventually I decided to post it and see what other members thought of it. To my amazement it was printed poster size and used by Panasonic on their stand at the 2010 Focus on Imaging show to help sell the G1 camera, so it’s my favourite image from 2010, and I’m very proud of it. Now I have it printed poster size, hanging on the wall behind my PC, as a reminder to follow my photo motto, “If you see it - take it”.

Really brings back memories for me. I took my first girlfriend on a first date to this cinema in the 1960s! Great picture.
