Phil Surbey's comments:

"Peter's captured an amazing moment in time here – a real beauty of a sunset. The silhouettes of the fisherman and the photographer, contrasting against the vivid sky, give the image a great story instead of it being an empty landscape. The two guys going about their day within this amazing scene really gives the image some depth. Shooting across the still water to achieve the mirror-like reflection helps make the most of the colourful sky. Also, utilising the G2’s preset functions and selecting the ‘Expressive’ mode has really helped give this image the ‘WOW!’ factor. A really great observation, well done!"

peternorman's comments:

Why is this my favourite photo? Well for me it really shows the capabilities of what the G2 can do. I took this on boxing day morning down the Vallette bathing pools in Guernsey. I went out for coffee about 7am and noticed it was going to be a cracker of a sunrise. The bathing pools are brilliant for sunrises. When I got there there was a lone fisherman. I started taking photos of him from various positions and settings. Then I noticed another photographer, Ian, had turned up. I said "hi" and we chatted for a wee bit. He is an old school photgrapher. 35mm film, tripod and glass filters. As for me I had my G2, Manfrotto tripod, panasonic remote release and LUMIX G VARIO 14-42/F3.5-5.6 lens. I then thought, why not get Ian and the fisherman into the shot. I moved positons and changed settings many times trying to get the right shot. The sun came up and I then went off home to check out the photos. Much to my suprise I had some pretty good shots. This one is by far the best one of the morning and the best I've ever taken. I have to thank the G2 for enchancing my abilities to take good qualitiy photos. If course it is the photographer who composes the the shot and sets the camera up but the G2 really makes the final product for quality. My viewpoint has changed on photography since using the G2. I try to make all my photos more artistic with the various setting on the camera. I think, Would that look good on a wall with that setting. This photo was taken on expressive mode and yes it would hang it on my wall. At the end of the day we all take photos to share specials moments we see and want to share that with others. And the responses and comments from others make it all worth while.

Sometimes words in the paper, or in the monitor are so little to express the feelings of a very unique photo.!!!!!!!

You are definately the master of sunrises and sunsets Peter. Guernsey’s obviously a great location to get this kind of shot – two places in two successive contests is definately something to be proud of :)
