Kestrel’s Unusual Hunting Perch
janebain's comments:
I often see a pair of kestrels hunting over Dukes Meadows, a large open park beside the Thames, in West London. The tall sculpture of herons stands at the edge of the park, but I have never seen a bird sitting on it before. Imagine my surprise and delight when I discovered that the kestrels have taken to using it as a perch from which to keep a watch for mice and other prey. This was one my first opportunities to put the new 100-300 lens to the test and I am thrilled with the result.

I love this shot. Nicely seen and taken.
