GOOD SHOT, I,VE HAD CYCLING HOLIDAYS ON mAJORCA. SEN LOTS OF THEESE BUT NEVER MANAGED TO CAPTURE A GOOD IMMAGE. WAS THIS HAND HELD?
10:24 pm
Thanks Jeff, It was a hand-held shot using the 45-200mm at it’s maximum 200mm. 1/2500sec @ F5.6 ISO 400mm. Large/fine 3000 x 4000 Jpeg. The light’s brilliant in Mallorca of course. I cropped it just a bit for the gallery. Gordon

Great shot Gordon, I can’t believe it was hand-held. I managed to get a shot of one in Lindau, last year but it was a bit blurry. It was evening, so the light was failing. Also saw one of these moths in South Wales, this June, the first one I’ve seen in Britain.
I’ve just bought the 45-200mm lens, after seeing your crow images. Hope mine look as good.

Aw! Fabulous. I tried to get a shot of this this year but I wasnt fast enough or close enough.
If you grow echium vulgaris the wild native echium of the UK you can bring them into your garden.

Interesting Dave – thanks. They aren’t easy to capture! I usually set the focus-distance manually and using “burst” – if you take enough shots – eventually you get a “keeper”. By the way – when viewed through the EVF – the wings look like they are in slow-motion (strobe effect). Try it! Gordon

You’re breaking all ‘View’ records with this fab shot, Gordon, and deservedly so!
